This slimming world cottage pie is so easy to make and can be served with extra veggies or a side salad, it is also freezer friendly, cook it in bulk and freeze in individual portions for those days when you are too tired to cook.

Add 6 syns if not using the cheese as a healthy extra, or leave it out altogether.

Try adding carrots, peas and sweetcorn into your cottage pie mix to give it more flavour.

substitute the normal mash potato topping for sweet potato mash, parsnip mash or carrot and swede mash.



Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C Fan/Gas 6

Place the potatoes in a large saucepan, lightly salt the water and boil for 15-20 minutes or until ready to mash

Drain the potatoes and add the fromage frais, mash until smooth and set to one side

Spray a frying pan with low calorie cooking spray, add the onion and garlic, fry for 4-5 minutes. {Add the minced beef and fry for a few minutes until the beef is browned

Stir in the chopped tomatoes, passata, tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce and herbs

Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes

Spoon the beef mixture into an oven proof dish, spread the mash over the top and sprinkle with cheese
